I am a Senior Lecturer at The University of Westminster School of Architecture throughout the school and also a Part 3 Professional Practice tutor and examiner.
The emphasis of the teaching crosses over with the core approach of my practice; technology should always go back to first principles: Design aspiration being implicit, especially at detail level. The architect should re-engage with crafting the building and with those that actually ‘make’ the building. Managing and administering the construction project, the architect can regain control over how the building is realised.
At Westminster School of Architecture I run the Site Diary module for second year students, who are assigned to a real building site and document a series of visits- establishing the link between designing and making.
