2008 Northshore,Stockton

This project was a runner-up in the international architectural competition to develop a riverside site in Stockton-on-Tees, run by Urban Splash and Muse Developments.
The brief called for between 200 and 250 new homes, strong links with the river, and a re-invention of traditional family housing typologies, such as the terraced house, bungalow, cottage, semi-detached and mews house. The proposal for the site is designed as a huge garden, all horizontal surfaces forming part of the garden, some private, some public, some semi- public. Community anchors within the site such as a mini-market, rowing centre and community centre break the scale of the housing and act as landmarks in the wider development. A village green and pond sit at the heart of the new community.
