This is a project for a family who have owned and lived on the beach front site, in an existing house, for several generations.
At £650K, the family’s budget for this new 7 bedroom house was extremely challenging. The form of the resulting building is a simple and rigorously detailed timber box, with square volumes cut out of the box defining the entrance, balconies, utility areas and a terrace. The design is also contextual and makes reference to the previous house on the site, the older neighbouring pitched roof houses and has created a balanced street facing elevation. This is a house designed to enjoy the beach, relax and eat together for this and many future generations.(as HUT)
