This is a house for a family leaving London to enjoy a more relaxed life in the country.
The project developed around their particularly social way of living and home-working.
Construction techniques and materials were chosen with a hand-crafted quality to stand up to muddy boots and wet animals, and to mature with age and use.
Many of the fixtures and fittings are recycled, including clothes storage made out of fisherman’s crates, and kitchen units constructed from advertising hoardings.
Emphasising the connection to its setting, external and internal larch clad walls are left untreated and weathering to the elements.(as HUT)
