Scott Batty Architect RIBA

I am an architect, maker and teacher with over 25 years of thinking and building.

I believe that Architecture should be vital, visceral, striking, arresting, primal, of the earth, engaging, even challenging.

Architecture should reject speed, fashion and the instant gratification of momentariness, taking time to produce and unfold through its use.
Architecture should help us experience the day and the place in which it is sited, exploiting passive environmental principles.
Architecture should make us think. Architecture can make us feel alive.

My projects are designed to be beautifully built, down to the last detail, but they only come to life when they are lived in and used.

My work has won several awards and has been featured on television in the UK and abroad, as well as in the national press. Positive feedback from clients attests to the quality of my work.

I believe that it is important to link practice with architectural education, so I teach- preaching what I practise.

Each project is a unique journey but the approach remains the same; through collaboration with clients, consultants and builders, a particular response is crafted- distilling the design down to its most simple, economical and beautiful form.
